Today is International Foster Carer Appreciation Day. We spoke to our colleague, Nicole, a member of our Child Care Department. Nicole is a “foster sibling” and her Mum does an amazing job of fostering vulnerable young children. Nicole has shared her thoughts about life as a foster sibling and why, in her view, fostering truly is an amazing job.

The World Federation for Mental Health established World Mental Health Day on 10 October 1992 and this years campaign is centered around ‘young people and mental health in a changing world.’

September marks the start of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month https://www.worldalzmonth.org/ with World Alzheimer's Day taking place on 21 September 2018.

This September our staff are doing something spectacular for the Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust! On the 28th September our team of superheroes will be unleashing their masked alter ego’s as they take on the 120 mile route across our 14 offices, starting in Easingwold at 5am and finishing at the Ramsden Street office in Huddersfield later that evening. The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust are asking everyone to dedicate a day this September to join the fight against cancer in young people and to do something super to make this September Spectacular!

Huge thank you to our Ramsdens runners who took part in the Race for Life 5k in Huddersfield, to every single person that donated to our challenge and those that marshalled on the day. This wasn’t the first time that the ladies at Ramsdens have taken part to raise funds for Cancer Research UK……..and they are already looking forward to next year’s run.

It’s Volunteers’ Week on the 1-7 June 2018 and we’d like to take the opportunity to say thank all our staff for their fantastic contribution they make helping local charities in our communities, from those of you who are trustees and campaigners to carers and fundraisers……thank you!

Life changing injuries. The definition of which will completely depend on your own experiences. For example, you may recall a recent story line in a well-known TV soap which focuses on the results of a horrific acid attack or perhaps the often daily news of our brave service men and women suffering loss of limbs. A footballer or athlete may believe a sprained ankle or broken arm is life changing or builder may consider a slip disk as a life changing injury.
