It was officially recognised by the United Nations General Assembly in 2011 following a request by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse. Britney’s father, Jamie Spears, applied to the court to become the Conservator for his daughter in 2008 following a decline in her mental health leading to ‘psychiatric hold’ in hospital.
