The impact of the pandemic since March 2020 and the restrictions and lockdowns that have resulted from it have intensified the risk factors that put children at risk of abuse.

​Care Day 21 is taking place on Friday 19th February. First beginning in 2015, the day is the world’s largest celebration of the rights of children and young people with care experience, whether they were cared for by family members with the support of social workers, by foster carers or in children’s homes and residential units.

The government have announced a new, “first-of-its-kind” strategy to protect children from Child Sexual Abuse. This comes ahead of the fourth annual sexual abuse and sexual violence week between 1st and 7th February.

​The review on Legal Aid has restarted following a pause induced by the impact of COVID-19. Justice Minister, Alex Chalk, informed the All-Party Parliamentary Group on Legal Aid that the review has re-commenced with a plan to publish findings in Spring 2021.
