World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) takes place each year on 15th June. It was officially recognised by the United Nations General Assembly in 2011 following a request by the International Network for the Prevention of Elder Abuse. The purpose of WEAAD is to raise awareness of the abuse and suffering inflicted on some of our older generations.

As today is international day of innocent children victims of aggression it is important to shed light of child victims of the consequences of war. The six most common types of violations are recruitment and use of children in war, killing, sexual violence, abduction, attacks on schools and hospitals and denial of humanitarian access.

Today is International Missing Children’s day. A day to highlight missing children, those who have been found and those who have not yet been returned to their families.
