On 1st October 2015 The Deregulation Act 2015 brought in a number of changes to the notice a landlord needed to give to obtain possession of its property pursuant to section 21 of the Housing Act 1988. This type of notice is commonly referred to as a section 21 notice. These changes related to tenancies commencing from 1st October 2015 onwards. Whilst these changes have now been in place for some time, on 1st October 2018 the intention is that these changes will apply to all tenancies, whether they were granted on or after 1st October 2015 or before.

This month is National Road Victim Month, a time to remember those killed or seriously injured on our roads. The immediate aftermath of a serious collision is, for all concerned, a time of shock. Others who have been in the vehicle but perhaps sustained lesser injuries and family members are attempting to process the information provided by the authorities that a loved one has passed or sustained life changing injuries. Any individuals who were at the collision scene will also have witnessed traumatic events. The Police have specialist Liaison Officers who will explain what is known regarding the collision at that time and the process of investigation to follow.

In 12 months to the end of March 2017, there were 1.9 million adults in England and Wales, between 16 and 59 years old who reported domestic abuse. The Office of National Statistics tells us that this equates to 1.2 million survivors being female and 0.7 million survivors are male. Even though domestic abuse occurs in all genders, there is still a disproportionate number who are female and the Government recognises that the most severe forms of domestic abuse is perpetrated against females. v
