Children and Divorce

One of the most distressing things a parent can experience is witnessing the effects of divorce on children, and we appreciate this is going to be your main cause of concern.

At Ramsdens, we have extensive expertise in handling cases surrounding children, and in representing parents, grandparents and other family members in difficult custody disputes.

Sensitivity and discretion is required when handling the interests of children, and we will help you establish financial, living and contact arrangements, ideally outside of the court. In rare circumstances, urgent court action may be required, and we will act with speed and decorum in these instances to ensure the best solution is reached.

We can help you negotiate with your child's other parent or apply for one of the following orders from the court:

  • Contact - the circumstances under which the non-resident parent can have access to the child or children
  • Grandparents Rights
  • Non-compliance with court orders
  • Child custody
  • Parental Responsibility
  • Prohibited steps - specific actions that are not allowed
  • Residence
  • Special Guardianship Orders
  • Specific issue - terms related to schooling, religious upbringing and medical intervention

Our specialist solicitors are members of the Law Society’s Children Law Accreditation Scheme, so you can be assured that your children’s best interests are at the heart of our work.
