As we continue to support National Road Victim Month, we have created a small guide of what to expect when initiating a claim after becoming a road victim.

  1. Limitation. There are rules regarding how long after an accident a claim can be brought. This will generally be 3 years from the date of the accident, so try to start your claim as soon as you can.
  2. Factual investigation. Once we have agreed to take on your claim, we will begin to move your case forward. We will access things such as police records, CCTV recordings and contact possible witnesses to establish what happened and who is at fault. We will consider the extent of your injuries and the costs you have incurred as a result of the crash.
  3. Supporting you. Using our expertise, we will consider whether you may benefit from rehabilitation to help support your recovery. We can put you in touch with a medical practitioner who is best suited to help the injuries you have sustained.
  4. Negotiation. We will try to get an admission of fault to help you receive early monetary compensation. Our team are aware of the financial and emotional effect going to court can have, therefore we look to settle outside of court where possible.
  5. If liability is denied, we may have to issue proceedings through the Court. It should be noted, however, that the majority of cases settle before reaching trial.
  6. Settling. Whether inside or outside of court, once liability is admitted and a level of compensation is agreed, we will send you your payment and close your file.
