This week we are supporting Road Safety Week and the focus of the campaign this year is being Bike Smart.

Cycling is a popular sport and more and more cyclists are taking to the road. Cyclists and motorcyclists are some of the most vulnerable road users and safety is therefore paramount.

The statistics and important facts focused on by the Bike Smart campaign are:

1. In 2016 there were 18,477 cyclist casualties and 19,297 motorcyclist casualties [1]

2. More people are cycling [1] so there is a greater need to protect them with a safe systems approach

3. Motorcyclists are 38 times more likely to be killed in a crash than car occupants per mile ridden [2]

4. Motorcyclists comprise the largest proportion (25%) of road crash admissions to trauma centres [3]

The Personal Injury team at Ramsdens are experienced in dealing with cycling accidents. Unfortunately we see too many cyclists who have been the victim of a road traffic accident and often the injuries are serious and/or catastrophic.

We can support victims and their families from the beginning to deal with all aspects of a personal injury claim. Focusing on early rehabilitation is key to ensure the victim is working towards recovering to a reasonable position with an aim to returning to the saddle, if possible, in as short a time as possible.

If you think you could be entitled to compensation following a cycling accident, call the Ramsdens Solicitors team now on our freephone number 0800 804 7450. Alternatively, you can text CLAIMS to 80988, or submit a claim online and a member of the team will get back to you about your cycling accident claim.
