Joanne is a Partner and Head of our Child Law department, having joined Ramsdens Solicitors through the merger of Whitfield Hallam Goodall in 2010 and she boasts over 30 years experience in child and family law proceedings.

Joanne has developed and headed our Child Law department for over 10 years, seeing its growth consistently increase and mature to one of the most significant teams in West Yorkshire. Since 2018 the strength has continued into North Yorkshire making Ramsdens a team of 11 fee earners and backing of an incredible support team and luxury of an internal legal aid billing department. Joanne has always insisted that she continues to fee earn in representing children through instructions from Cafcass as she believes this aids her leadership and ability to best understand the needs of the department. In addition to managing the team, Joanne oversees the legal aid contract. As a partner, Joanne also contributes to the strategy of the wider firm.

 

Joanne's Achievements include:

• She is a member of the Law Society’s Children’s Panel (for over 20 years), is a trained Collaborative lawyer and recommended in The Legal 500, 2023
• Joanne was nominated in the Yorkshire Women of Achievement Awards 2015, Northern Power Women Awards 2017 and was a finalist in the Yorkshire Legal Awards 2017, Family category
• Heads up one of the few firms in England and Wales to have a Significant Child Law team to have reached 'Tier 2' in the Legal 500
• Joanne holds the position of Trustee at The Art House, Wakefield and is an Ambassador at Child Friendly Leeds (CFL)

 

Joanne Specialises in all aspects of Child Law in particular:

• Representing children, parents and other relatives in public law proceedings involving social services - known as care proceedings
• Instructions of adoption
• Special guardianship cases
