Robyn is a Solicitor in the Court of Protection team at Ramsdens, where she works with people that lack capacity to make decisions in relation to their health, welfare, property and financial affairs. She also works within the Mental Health Law Team and provides advice and representation to vulnerable people that have been detained in hospital under the Mental Health Act 1983.
After graduating from University and completing her Legal Practice Course, Robyn commenced her training contract at a specialist firm in the North West of England where she gained a wealth of experience in Mental Health, Mental Capacity and Community Care Law. During this time, Robyn spent time advising on a range of Court of Protection matters involving residence, contact and care where the vulnerable person lacks capacity to make decisions and provide instructions. She has worked with vulnerable service users, their family members, advocates and the Official Solicitor on cases at a range of levels including the regional Court of Protection, the Court of Appeal and the Supreme Court of England and Wales.
Robyn has since gone on to specialise in all areas of Mental Capacity Law. She regularly advises in relation to best interests decision making and challenges to deprivation of liberty standard authorisations (DoLS). Robyn also advises in relation to a range of financial matters in the Court of Protection including making applications for Deputyship, revocation of registered Enduring Power of Attorneys and Statutory Wills. Robyn also prepares Lasting Powers of Attorney for those who wish to appoint people to make decisions about their property and financial affairs, and health and welfare, when they no longer have capacity to do so in the future.
Robyn also specialises in providing advice and representation to clients who have been sectioned under the Mental Health Act. She represents clients at mental health tribunals, hospital managers hearings and also advises in relation to s117 aftercare. Robyn is also able to assist vulnerable people who have been discharged from hospital onto a Community Treatment Order.
Robyn is a member of COPPA and the Mental Health Lawyers Association. She is also a member of the Law Society’s Mental Health Accreditation Scheme and has gained Accredited Legal Representative status under the Law Society’s Mental Capacity (Welfare) Accreditation Scheme.
