Oliver Swales is a Solicitor in our Child Law team based in York.
Oliver qualified as a solicitor in 2021 and practised Child Law in West Yorkshire before joining Ramsdens Solicitors in 2025.
Oliver has experience representing parents, grandparents and other family members within public law proceedings where the Local Authority are involved with a family, commonly referred to as care proceedings. These kind of proceedings also include work such a special guardianship orders and adoption. Oliver undertakes the majority of his own advocacy before the Family Court.
Oliver’s areas of specialism include:
- Representing parents and other relatives in public law proceedings involving social services – known as care proceedings.
- Representing parents on applications to discharge Care Orders.
- Advising and representing connected family members on applications to challenge negative assessments by social services.
