We know that the government’s advice on social distancing and
self-isolation will have a direct impact on men, women and children experiencing
domestic abuse. Home is the place where most abuse takes place, social
distancing and self-isolation may make ‘home’ feel even more unsafe for those
suffering from domestic violence. ‘LOCK DOWN’, social distancing and
self-isolation is likely to be used as a tool of coercive and controlling
behaviour by perpetrators, and will shut down routes to safety and
support.

We foresee a
significant increase of cases across our Family department, and the financial
insecurities that often prohibit victims from leaving the perpetrator may
worsen in the aftermath of COV-19.

Ramsdens are
committed to keeping our services for emergency protection orders available to
all in need. We do not anticipate any break in our services.

If you, or
someone you know, are experiencing abuse, please contact Ramsdens Solicitors.
We work closely with various domestic abuse services that can provide further
help and assistance for matters such as security at home and safety. In an
emergency, please do still call 999.

If you would
like to speak with a member of our Family team then please call on 08000 147720
or send us an email to book a free information session at any of our offices
across Yorkshire.
