In our final blog for #NationalRoadVictimMonth, we are focusing on the importance of rehabilitation following a crash. If you or a family member is involved in a crash, this can have a huge impact on every aspect of life, including caring for children, work and finances.

An individual may sustain both physical and psychological injuries as a result of a crash. It is key to engage in early rehabilitation to recover and regain normality as soon as practically possible. We should be able to secure , rehabilitation for you at an early stage in the claim which is vitally important to aid recovery. The sooner everyone understands the crash victim’s needs, the better, as we can provide an individually tailored service from an early stage.

The Rehabilitation Code 2015 recognises the potential need for rehabilitation in both low-value (up to £25,000) and high-value claims, and it applies even where liability is not admitted. The insurer of the party we are claiming against should engage very quickly in the code, meaning we can arrange an Initial Needs Assessment for you. This will be undertaken by a case manager or experienced rehabilitation consultant who will make an assessment on each party involved in the claim and will determine the immediate needs for that individual. This will include help in the form of rehabilitation such as physiotherapy or psychological treatment and can also include an assessment on your needs around the home and how the you could work towards returning to work, in the future, for example. The cost of this will be funded by the insurer up to a point and before liability is determined. Engaging in rehabilitation can be imperative for alleviating any physical, psychological and financial strain that may have arisen as a result of a crash.

At Ramsdens, our Personal Injury team regularly deal with both low-value and high-value claims, many of which require rehabilitation. We are well equipped and passionate about providing you and your family with support throughout your claim.
