Alcohol Awareness Week runs from the 14th of November to the 22nd of November this year.

Alcohol Concern is a national charity that aims to work to reduce alcohol harm in the UK.

As well as damaging your health, excessive alcohol consumption can be directly related to domestic violence.

It is believed that alcohol misuse is consistently found in a high proportion of those who perpetrate domestic abuse. Research has found that between 25% and 50% of those who perpetrate domestic violence have been drinking at the time.

It is important to remember that domestic violence can also be perpetrated when a person is sober. Being "drunk" is not an excuse to harm someone and perpetrate domestic violence. It is a myth that all domestic violence occurs when men or women are drunk or have an alcohol problem. This is not the case, domestic violence can unfortunately, happen to anyone, at anytime. It is important to remember that domestic violence is never okay.

Domestic violence can be perpetrated by both men and women. Men and women both suffer domestic violence and it comes in many forms. As well as physical abuse, domestic violence can be verbal or financial.

It seems from the statistics that there is a direct correlation between alcohol consumption and domestic violence.
