Ramsdens have charity at the heart of the business and strive to support local charities in the following ways:

  • all staff are eligible for a paid volunteering day for charity every year;
  • staff vote for their local office charity to support; and
  • local champions for CSR.

The firm also supports the local community by working with local education partnerships to provide young people with work experience and by encouraging staff to visit schools to assist with business skills and career days.

Examples of recent activities include:

  • A group of our trainees attended the BHC Barristers Employment Law team annual charity quiz where those that attended raised £2,200 for the Manuel Bravo Project.
  • Our Family department attended SMH Sheards Accountants Charity Curry Night in aid of Ruddis Retreat. On the night £807 was raised, meaning that Ruddis will be able to send three families on a break to one of their seaside locations. The contributions will go a long way in helping families with seriously ill children to enjoy a much-needed break and create cherished memories.
  • Some of our fabulous trainees attended the Kirklees and Calderdale charity clothes drive in aid of the Women’s Centre. The drive was created to give an opportunity for people to purchase affordable workwear, with any remaining clothes being donated to the Women’s Centre to help women in Kirklees and Calderdale that are going through difficult circumstances. Over £170 was raised.
  • Some of our staff members took part in the Pretty Muddy 5k Race for Life in aid of Cancer Research UK. Over £575 was raised for charity.
  • The Ramsdens Ramblers completed the Macmillan Mighty Hike in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support. They did a 26 mile trek throughout the Yorkshire Dales, raising money for a great cause.
  • We attended The Holmfirth Junior Infant and Nursery School Summer Fair where Ramsdens sponsored the Year 6 Enterprise Stalls. Ramsdens sponsored prizes for the winning stall and a small prize for all participants. This meant that this competition could be run at no cost to the school and that all profits can go back to supporting the students.
  • Lots of members of our team got involved with the Hats for Headway event. Each sporting a hat raising funds for Headway and Huddersfield District. Headway offers support to brain injury survivors and families throughout Calderdale and Kirklees.
  • A few of our trainees attended a fundraising event at The Lawrence Batley Theatre to raise funds for the theatre. At the theatre they run a youth theatre, dance classes, art workshops, singing groups and more to help build a strong sense of community through their work.
  • We donated to Kirklees Youth Theatre’s hardship fund. The theatre created their hardship fund with the aim to benefit those local children who have successfully secured a part in KYTE’s productions but who are unable to fund the cost of taking part. This fund supports these students and solidifies the theatre’s commitment to assisting the local community wherever possible and to be an outlet for young people in Kirklees who are interested in the Arts,
  • Our team walked 10 miles in the wind and rain in support of the March of the Day for the Darby Rimmer Foundation. We raised £1350 for this amazing cause.
